Hi, I feel like here should be some kind of prolog about how I’ve got interested in making gameplay movies… but that’s a long, long story… if I’ll force my memory… – it all began around few years back… - whatever man, nobody wants to read this, so I’ll go straight to my point.
There are many discussions about which of bunch of programs to record your gameplay is better. I’ve tried almost all of them: FRAPS, DXTory, BandiCam, GameCam, Quobi, PlayClaw, X-Fire, and many other that are not worth of being even mention here. Actually only three of them offer good quality of either gameplay vid and/or gameplay experience. And their names are: FRAPS, DXTory and PlayClaw. Below you have a quick description of that TOP Three Best Game Recorders ever:
FRAPS – great program, it’s making avesome quality videos, but have really heavy impact on a game smoothness. Also the videos that you’ll record by Fraps will be loseless, and that equal to really HUGE bitrate (I’ve got over 76000kbps) and really HUGE file size. Fraps also lack of GUI configuration settings, so this is not program for me.
PlayClaw – it offer some GUI configuration, but to be able to properly configure it you have to display in-game-on-screen configuration. If offer not bad quality and it do not disturb game experience as much as Fraps. It’s a nice alternative for people with less hard disk space and those who do not aim for superior quality of gameplay vids.
DXTory – in my opinion it’s the best program to recors gameplay vids. It offer full GUI configuration. It may use external codecs, it may record loseless and lossy video files. DXTory have almost no impact on your gameplay, so you’ll be able to play like you used to and you’ll don’t even notice that it’s working in the background.
